FAQs

TOUR DETAILS

What is included in the tour package? Are bikes provided, or should participants bring their own?
Electric Bikes are included, we only tour on bikes we provide. Also included are helmets with an intercom system so we can communicate while riding. Water bottles are included and incase of bad weather we have extra rain gear you can borrow.

How long do the tours typically last?
Classic Tours last between 3 hours and 3 hours and 15 minutes. Food Tours last around 4 hours.

Are there bathrooms along the tour?
Yes, the guides will point out all the bathroom along the route.  Please note that there is no bathroom at the starting location. We can make this our first stop if needed, otherwise we will point out all the bathrooms along the way.

FITNESS & SKILL LEVEL

What fitness level is required for the tours?
The tour can be the equivalent of a casual walk in a park or brisk walk. There's no need to sweat or breathe heavily on an electric bike even while going up the steepest hills in Seattle. Almost all fitness levels can complete the tour and not be too tired to take on the rest of the day.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist to join?
You don't need to be a highly experienced cyclist. You should, however, be comfortable riding a bike, that includes stopping and turning. If you haven't ridden a bike in a while it would be best to practice before the tour.

WEATHER & SAFETY

What happens if the weather is bad?
The bikes can go out in all kinds of weather. If the weather is too stormy or if other conditions are just unfavorable to biking the tour can be cancelled and you will be refunded in full.

How do you ensure the safety of participants during the tour?
We make every effort to ensure that the tour is safe. The helmets with speakers allow the guide to call out any hazards ahead of the riders. We stay on bike paths for most of the tour, the others roads are lightly traveled. Guides are super familiar with the route and know all potholes, bumps, tricky corners and when best to apply caution.

GROUP SIZE

How many people are usually in a tour group?
Classic Tour groups are set at 6 riders and the guide. If larger groups book the tour, up to 10 riders, we provide two guides. Food Tours are generally limited to groups of 8 and are led by 2 guides.

Can I book a private tour for my group?
Yes, private tours are available. Please send us a message through Contact Us.

CHILDREN & FAMILIES

Are there age restrictions for participants? Can children join the tours?
The bikes are rated for riders 16 and older.  There is a Yepp seat for children 9 months to 6 years old. There is also a cargo bike that can hold two passengers. The cargo bike is equipped with a handle and side rails.

EQUIPMENT & GEAR

What equipment or gear is provided?
The bikes we use are Radpower Step Thru Minis. These bikes are accessible for most riders. There is also a cargo bike for riders with small children.

Can I bring my own helmet/bike?
You do not need to bring your own bike or helmet, we only do the tour with the bikes and helmets we provide.

FOOD TOUR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Why Kenji/Seattle Rider tours collaboration?
This tour is over two years in the making. If you follow Kenji you probably know that e-biking is his primary way to navigate his way through Seattle. It took us a while to get it together and get it right, but once we saddled up and spent some time riding and eating together we knew this was the right thing at the right time. We now are ready to roll out a tour that makes no compromises to our sight seeing, safety or culinary goals.

How long is the tour?
3.5 to 4 hours but we are committed to not rushing anything so we encourage riders to bring some flexibility and just go with the flow of the day.

How much food do we eat?
Picture a quarter to a third of a robust sandwich at each stop. Our goal is that no one leaves hungry but no one is too stuffed to enjoy every stop.

What dietary needs can you accommodate?
Vegetarian or Pescatarian? No problem. Just let us know when you register. Vegan, not quite as easy but let us know when you sign up and we will reply with what your options will look like on that day. Gluten Free, we are working on it but right now we aren’t able to fully accommodate a Gluten Free tour. As we grow this tour and add other food options we will work towards that option being available.

What is not included in the tour price?
Price includes everything to do with the biking and the main item at each food stop. Want a drink to go with your sandwich? That’s on you. Same goes for any other extras. Also, if it is not too late and we aren’t too full we will make a final stop for a dessert treat before heading for home. That baked good or ice cream is not included in tour price.

Do I get to meet Kenji?
Kenji’s schedule does not have room for personally hosting these tour dates. Kenji does plan to do an occasional drop by. Those, however, will be rare and special events..

I want to do an outing with my work team. Can we book a special tour that fits the needs of our group?
Absolutely. We do both regular and food tours (or even a hybrid) for work teams or any other group. Just email and we can start planning your event. Hello@seattleridertours.com
